Frosty, You should be offered either a replacement '98 or a current/recent vintage which is satisfactory (or equivalent to the quality of the '98 ). While I like the white label Metala, you should get a Black label in exchange. Storage conditions have little to do with TCA taint, so they have nothin...

Hi Gavin, I did some research on this a while back and it will come down to what you like the sound of, for the money. My budget was similar to yours (until we decided we were going to buy a house instead!) and for that money I found either a good Onkyo or Marantz amp (6.1) teamed with a Jensen Spea...

Re: Screw caps and airing

I've been noticing that wine under screwcap closure seems to need additional airing to begin to show its best. Sometimes this is next day type airing. Has anyone else had the same experience/feeling? I'm trying to get clear in my mind if it's real or imagined, I of course believe it to be the forme...

Chow Chow has some good recommendations there. At a recent Divine Heathcote tasting, many found that the wineries in the south of the Heathcote region fare better and produce better fruit than those in the north. The town of Heathcote itself lies in the south of the region, the northern aspect lies ...

Jamie, nope, not thin or weedy at all. I admit my expectations weren't that high, given the reputation of the wine/vintage. It is the only bottle of this vintage I've had, however, so maybe it was the best bottle every produced I did go back and check the label: yep, 1993. I actually picked this up...

It's an OK wine, but doesn't hold a candle to the '94 or '96. When compared to these, it's a bit light, and most definately exhibits a g...

Alan,

Did you get any green leafy characters in this? I'm glad you had a good bottle, as most of mine have been a bit thin and weedy. Not a bad wine, but not one I'd give 94 points to. Must try another soon methinks.

Ric, Would you be entitled to a refund or replacement on the first bottle, due to the faulty screwcap? By my way of thinking you should be. I sometimes wonder if people assume that there will never be another refund of a bottle(s) of wine, once they bottle everything in screwcap. My understanding is...

Barossa Valley Estate E&E Sparkling shiraz '98/'99. Still available at most wine shops and around $45-50/bottle, maybe less. This would keep you busy while waiting to get on the Rockfords waiting list. Or an aged release Seppelts would do the job also.
