Re: TN: M.Chapoutier Chante Alouette Hermitage Blanc 2012
Had the 2012 and the 2007 vintages within the last two years (bought from DM), enjoyed both very much, stunning power and concentration. You can drink them young or old, depends on how much maturity you like (or can tolerate) in your wines. Wished this wine would be more widely available in Aus.

Re: Old Australians From Climate Controlled Storage.
Hi Gavin, I opened and drank my 2002 Kalleske Shz bottle in April 2021. On that day, nothing special happened, except that I opened this bottle. Well, I agree, a special wine for the above-mentioned historical reasons. I drank it on my own, no distraction, gave it all the attention and respect it de...

Re: Old Australians From Climate Controlled Storage.
Hi Jamie, now that you mentioned Kalleske …. my first Kalleske wine was the 2004 Greenock Shiraz, which I really loved on release. I also remember a fantastic 2006 OV Grenache. Later I brought a 2006 JG Shiraz to an Adelaide offline and it was great, maybe opened a bit too young at that time. More r...

Hi David, You are a hero, trying to get the Adelaide wine tragics together for another offline. Good on you. I'd love to join you again and I'm super easy with having or not having a theme. Well, I don't buy Rockford's wines very often, I'm not on their mailing list and have only visited their CD on...

Re: Grand Cru Tasting Group (Perth) - Grenache and blends
Opened last weekend a bottle of Head Wines Ancestor Grenache 2013 (first release I think), was gobsmacked how insanely good it is. Very dense red berry fruit profile, raspberry essence, but has also a dark, brooding, savory, herbal side. Gives the wine ... hmm ... a profound seriousness?! Feels like...

Re: May/June Tasting Notes
Sevenhill Inigo Riesling 2019: Loved this wine right from the first sip, so seductive, rich in lemony flavour, mild not searing acidity, dry but touch of fruit sweetness, not the typical bone dry minerally chalky Clare Riesling. Lino Ramble Ludo Fiano 2016: Lovely yellow colour, now developed aroma...

Re: The Best Australian Pinot ... ?
Hold on Sam, Ian & Raymo, it’s not about the points (I absolutely despise the points rating system). It’s all in the tasting notes. As Wizz said Gary’s notes were quite diplomatic and Gary says they are still ‘good wines’ but calling the finish ‘a bit soapy and diffuse’ explains the lower rating...

Visited the Pooley CD early this year and tried of the 2018 vintage the 'standard', Cooinda Vale, Butcher's Hill and Jack Denis (Reserve) PN's. My impressions (and I'm still a bloody apprentice when it comes to Pinot Noir) were ... fruit forward (cherry, raspberry, strawberry), but also some mineral...

Haven't had many of the 'iconic' Australian Pinot Noirs...but these are my highlights: By Farr - Sangreal and Tout Pres Bindi - OV and Block 5 Curley Flat - yes, need to revisit Main Ridge Estate - Half Acre (loved the wild 2017) When I visited earlier this year Tasmania I did a nice tasting at Pool...

Hi Mahmoud
In 2016 I had a 1993 Petaluma Riesling (Hanlin Hill) and it was still drinking nicely. Still good lemony fruit and lively acidity, very enjoyable.
Cheers, Mario.
For some reason or another I still have my 1992 bottle

Ok, now that Matt mentioned the Wolta Wolta...yes, there's this new wave of high-prized Rieslings, which received some mouthwatering reviews from highly regarded critics. Logically, I wanted to try these wines but didn't go into a buying frenzy as they are expensive wines. Luckily I had the chance t...

Wynns Coonawarra Estate Centenary Shiraz Cabernet 1991 Opened a 750ml bottle yesterday. Bought at auction around 2010 in Perth, moved with me to Adelaide. Hi Tuxy,
I have bought and enjoyed wines from these two SA producers:
1) Mike Press Wines (https://www.mikepresswines.com.au/)
2) Longhop Wines (Domenic Torzi & Tim Freeland, http://www.oldplains.com/News.htm)

Re: International Grenache Day
I went on the weekend to the Grenache Day in Adelaide where mainly 2017 Grenache wines from South Australia were for tasting. To be honest, I left slightly underwhelmed, and it is a vintage issue for me, not so much the producers. I would describe many of the 2017 Grenache wines from SA quite pale i...
