Looks like a great tasting Tim. Surprisingly, the 2017 cooindah was one of my best whites tried last year. Loved it.
Agree re: the quality of Aussie and NZ chardy improving in leaps and bounds. Look fwd to hearing about round two.

This: typical Rockford experience, sadly. The same deflated feeling I've had after visiting the past 4 times. Next stop Rockford. It pains me to say this but I was disappointed. Busy cellar door and rushed through the tastings. They seemed to have become a victim of there own success. Standouts were...

Re: 2016 Yarra vintage

2017 is the vintage for me. Balance, persistence, incredible structure across most wines, particularly Pinot that I tried on a trip down there in January.

2015 was the best vintage for Cabernet in a long time imho. All were brilliant.

Hi Sam,
Have just learned that a few bosses will be in town next week and I’ve been roped in to a dinner on Thursday with them. I know what i’d rather be doing.
Means that Pat and +1 will be comfortably seated. Apologies

I can tell you which one NOT to bring - Domaine A Petit Cab, had one yesterday at a tasting and it was bloody awful. Haha, Dave. Your comments were hilarious. This may suit if meat pies are in the menu? Tomato sauce/tomato leaf. I think the 11 suffered from many factors. The 06 may be a different b...

2015 MM Quintet. A buddy and I on the back deck at his place cracked this... Straight up getting Graphite, lead pencil, a touch of green/stem like characters. Reminded me of an old school pencil case. Subsequently getting some cherry/candy like aromas that had me thinking of red skins lollies. So m...

"Matt". "Who the fck is Matt" (krusty) comes a booming voice from restaurant side of the tasting room. Here he is, Timo. The man, the mystery. Loud, loose, family in hand. Voice reverberating through the room. There is a mystique in the wine world about what he's doing and how h...

Mornington/Yarra Trip - Day 3 Yarra Valley

Waking up bleary eyed and heavy headed after last night's festivities we packed and jumped in the car - which was more like driving around in a small tank - and headed to the Beechworth Bakery on the main drag for some breakfast pies which went down a treat. After knocking them off we made up our wa...

Mornington/Yarra Trip - Day 2 Yarra Valley

Day 2 saw us up early doors, the two chefs back on the griddle.
