Gavin, Auswine - Thank You

Just wanted to acknowledge the support of Gavin and Auswine with the Australian Wine Trade Bushfire Raffle. All up, over $245K was raised. I know he will be embarrassed by this but he put his hand up to help only moments after cries for help went up. I won't say a bad word about South Aussies again ...

I had lunch at this establishment shortly after re-opening. I must admit, I wasn't expecting much but what followed was a brilliant experience which lasted many more hours than anticipated.

Have to check it out again soon.

Being ITB (any business for that matter) can mean you're loathe to speak your mind, you say nice things when they're not true, you duckshove, you overpoint, you brown-nose, you connive, you back-stab ..... because you want to go places or get a little more of this or a lot more of that ..... pfffff...

First of all, thanks to Gavin for the opportunity to reply I just wanted to clear up a point that has been misconstrued throughout this thread by some, that of the 'pick-up fee'. For the record, WineStar freights free (and without surcharge) on dozen lots anywhere in Australia. Order less than a doz...

Re: NZ Wines of the Year

Once a year I post pink tinned ham. Hopefully a forgivable sin for an old time poster My website has a quick write up of my NZ new release wines of the year. Feel free to plunder my faultless opinion and fill your cellars with these wines. I know Gav has at least one of them! Or of course we could ...

Hi guys, just saw this and thought I'd offer a quick summation on my experiences with phpBB Firstly the bots have no problems getting past the graphic code. This was a good measure when introduced as standard about 5 versions ago but the spammers have cleverly avoided it. It is now worthless. There ...

Piper Heidsieck NV - wow for drinking pleasure for the money in bubbles hard to beat. Toasty richness - may have a touch of added sweetness but who cares. My inclination to heap surpurlatives on it is tempered by how little good bubbles I've been drinking. Agree, this is good juice for the money, t...

Maybe you should bring up the Melbourne offline subject on Bert's forum Gavin? You may get a lot more interest. Cheers, Ian Ian, I don't think the issue is crossforumisation (I swear thats a word!) I think the fact that Gavin is staying up in the sticks it makes it very hard to co-ordinate for me a...

He was a passionate and genuine man. Quite rare these days where artificial personalities rule the airwaves. I was honestly upset when I heard the news. A great loss. If you want to see the real Steve get the bloopers from the Wiggly Safari video where he appears with the Wiggles. That DVD gets a m...

I was also fortunate enough to try the 2004s recently The Sack was the standout in a very good set of wines. Showed some lovely lifted aromatics and showed good Shiraz does not always need a splash of Viognier to be 'pretty'. I'll definitely by getting some of The Schnell for home. Absolute crowd pl...

Of course, a six pack of regular bottles is only 4.5 litres, and since none of them is over 2.5 litres each (your double-magnum is a goner, apparently) you would have been within your rights to twell them to shove off. The lady at check in (no names but an Australian netball player of intimidating ...

You're also right about not being able to take a case onboard a plane - there is a limit to the amount of alcohol, 4.5l I tihnk, and of course the weight limit on hand luggage might come into play for a 12 bottle case, Wizz is correct. I suspect it will come down to the person doing the checking in...
