Hamilton 2003 Almond Grove Chardonnay Nose of ripe apple, pear, vanilla and spice. Well balanced on the palate with good acidity and a creamy mouthful. Fairly dry and has good length. Thought it might be headed downhill but it was still delivering the goods. Chateau Calissanne 2000 Clos Victoire A ...

Kelowna in the heart of wine country is about 5.5 hrs. from Vancouver and 9 hrs. from Calgary. If you are their in May see if you can find a copy of the Canadian Wine Annual ...

Woodside Valley Wines Opinions Please!!!
Have been approached to join in on purchasing some private imports and have only been able to taste one of the wines. Would appreciate any opinions on these wines and also as to QPR based on what I would pay as shown below. From what I can find they seem like they may be pretty decent. All Woodside ...

A little levity on wine.
Just a couple of items to hopefully make you chuckle while enjoying a drop this weekend. A new wine for seniors California vintners in the Napa Valley area, who make a lot of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines, have developed a new hybrid grape that acts as an anti-diuretic. It is expect...

Although some smaller wineries may not be open there are still lots to visit. We are going L...

Thanks for the comments on the Two Hands wines. The LCBO lets wine writers taste most of the wines before their twice monthly "releases" of what we call non-general list wines. The wine review service I subscribe to didn't get to taste either of the Two Hands so I was flying blind on them. FYI, here...

Here in Ontario we suffer gov't taxes and excise totalling 50.1% of the price of a bottle of wine in LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) retail stores. On top of that there is an operating cost built into selling price which nets the gov't $1 billion plus a year in dividends beyond the taxes. The...
