Suggestions for wineries near Orange?

Post by JustinB »

Hi. I was the new, quiet guy at the Adelaide offline, there with PaulG and Jas. I happen to be passing through Orange, NSW next week, and I'll have a few hours to spare. I was wondering if anyone could suggest which of the wineries in the area are worth visiting? Google turns up a fair few of them, but none of them are familiar to me.

I reckon if you do a search for almost that exact title you will get a number of hits. My suggestion is Mayfield, and I hear they will be releasing their reserve pinot this year, so ask for it.

Here is the previous topic on recommendations for Orange.

Just remember - many of the wineries in Orange are only opened on the weekends. So if you are there mid-week you may need to make an appointment.

I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

As Sharkey said many vineries are only open on the weekend.

Just a note, Printhie is a great winery and is rated as the only 5 star by halliday but it is a bit out of town and up quiet a long dirt road. I think it's worth it but if you are limited for time you may want to skip it. Also Mayfield and Canabolas Smith are excellent
