Cloudy Bay S/B 2003 - A very ripe S/B. More citrus(limey) than the usual grassy and gooseberry characters that u would normaly associate with a Marlbourough SB. Excellent length and persistence.

Jamieson Run Reserve 1998 - The palate revealed flavours of stewed fruit, blackcurrant and dark chocolate. Plush with silky tannins, excellent integration with all components harmonious. A very ripe style which reminded me of Katnook Odyssey.

Majella Cabernet 2000 - An archetype Coonawarra Cabernet. Pure cassis, minty with fine firm, dry tannins. Tight palate and in need of several more years of bottle aging. A much, much better effort than the 2001 vintage which I had early this year.

Clonakilla Shiraz/ Viogner 2003 - The wine which I look forward most after all the accolades. Perfumed lifted nose, floral scented. Elegant palate and the texture was like satin. Dried apricots, peaches & exotic spices that came in layers, an extremely complexed palate, seamless. Very youthful but exceptionally well balance. A serious top notch wine which will destined to be a classic in the Aussie rendition of the Cote Rotie style.

Liebich Darkie 2002 - After the elegant courtesan, this wine is like a tran-gender. Burly, v.very ripe & alcholic. Confectionary and melted chocolates. On another day, I will appreciate this wine more but after the Clonakilla, all the flaws were magnified.

Kaseler Bogan 2002 - Massive wine, great structure, intense and the lenght seems to last forever. Tried it next to the leftover Darkie, it make the Darkie hollow and tarty.

Miranda Botrytis 2001 - Sweet and raisiny. Cloying in the mouth with not much of Botrytis(oily) mouthfeel. Agreedable for the price.

The Clonakilla Shz/V '03 is the best cool climate wine I had fr OZ. Unbelievable symmetry, exotic and the texture was like floating in heaven.
For an elegant wine it has intensity and a respectable lenght to boot.

clonakilla is living proof of how shiraz and viognier can go so well together, reminds me of meerea park terracotta, albeit the latter being a much bigger wine.

who ever thought we would be raving of wines that combine red and white, eh ? - mind you shiraz vionier blends have been around a long time - makes you wonder about what other combinations might work on a synergy level?

massive marketting is on the way on the West Coast,
the Viogner commercials are everywhere and...it helps sales!

Serge, I don't think the Clonakilla Shz/Viogner make it across the Pacific. The only Clonakilla that is available in U.S. is the Shiraz.

300Cs of Shz/Viogner is not enuf to satisfied the thirst of the local consumers. Pssst, keep the Shz/Vio away fr Parker. I don't want to pay RRig's $$$$$. Btw. Mr.Parker only review their generic Shiraz.
