TN: Myattsfield 'LFC' Shiraz Viognier 2019

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

"LFC" stand for Myattsfield members "Left Field Club". This gives the winemaking team opportunity to experiment with small batches that they might not otherwise commercially produce. These experimental wines are releases to the LFC first, and success or otherwise is (presumably) measured by sales and feedback. They've made a lot of successful experiments over the years.

Purple black in the glass. The nose has that lovely perfumed Viognier lift of apricot alongside some dark berry fruits, white pepper and savoury oak. The palate reflects the nose, with the apricot and dark fruits on the front and middle palate. There's a slippery texture, and the tannins are fine but grippy. A reasonably long, lingering finish completes a satisfying wine.

At six years old, this is probably at its peak.

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
