TN: Clarendon Hills 'Brookman' Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

I've tasted a fair number of older Clarendon Hills reds recently, but had not tried this one before.

Crimson in the glass, and quite dense. My initial impression is that this is less intense than older versions I have tasted. Primary fruit has largely diminished on the nose, and there are secondary characters of tobacco, bay leaf, and wood smoke (possibly from eucalypt leaves).

There's a little more developed dark berry fruits on the palate, alongside the savoury characters already described. Tannins are fully integrated, and barely noticeable, with the acid also in support. Slight alcohol heat and a medium finish only.

There's no ovbious indicator of cork taint, but I wonder if this is not a typical bottle. Just as well I have another couple.

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
