TN: Maxwell Ellen Street Shiraz 2019

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

An annual buy for me, for some years now, as a member of Maxwell's Clan wine club.

Deep purple in the glass. Big shiraz nose, with cloves, dark blackberry fruits, vanilla, and Christmas pudding. The palate continues the Christmas theme with raisined dark fruits, more spices, and some brandy. Oak is present in quantity, but at the moment is swamped by the fruit (I expect this will balance out in a few years). Tannins are moderately grippy, and there's a glycerol mouthfeel as well. A big and full palate leading to a long finish.

Excellent wine and consistent with previous vintages. Will go for years yet.

Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Hi Allan, very much agree with your note, have about 8-10 bottles of 2019 and a couple of six packs of the 2021, which is a fabulous wine.
Both an easy 10-20 years.
Cheers Craig
Tomorrow will be a good day
