G'day
This used to be labelled as Cabernet Merlot, and I understand most if not all vintages actually contain some Merlot (within the limit of Australian labelling laws).
Crimson colour. Lots of cocoa / drinking chocolate on the nose initially, but with swirling, plenty of blackcurrant and blackberry / mulberry characters emerged. There's also some graphite and cedary oak.
The palate is medium bodied, with mulberry and plum alongside the darker berry fruits. Tannins and acid are both present but not dominating at all, and there's a slight viscosity on the tongue. This finishes a little shorter than I was expecting, but the flavours are combining so well that this becomes a minor quibble. A most enjoyable wine without being a blockbuster.
Cheers
Allan
