TN: 2018 Roda 'Sela' Rioja

Post by Michael McNally »

This is the entry level wine from Rioja produce Bodegas Roda. It was one of many highlights of my two days in Haro. I think there were only 5 wines in the range and from this one up they went from really good to spectacular (and spectacularly expensive). Picked these up here in Oz for about $40. Great VFM. 95% Tempranillo with the rest Garnacha and Graciano. Lovely fruit on the nose - cherries, berries and a hint of cola. Lovely fresh palate with those cola notes supported by some fine acid and slightly grippy tannin. Very much in the house style, but approachable now - please decant. Excellent. Cork was prisine BTW.

Cheers

I've not tasted this one, so will keep an eye out for it. It sounds a little like a Crianza (or even Joven) style, and sometimes less (oak in particular) can be more.
