Somm: Into The Bottle
Somm: Into The Bottle
Many of you would be familiar with the documentary called 'Somm' which was released in 2012. There's now a sequel called 'Somm: Into The Bottle'. The original documentary was about four sommeliers sitting the MS exam. This sequel is a completely different style of film. It's all about wine with topics ranging from history to wine making to the emotions of drinking old wine. It's purely documentary in style with none of that reality TV style of the first film. A very enjoyable 1.5hrs of viewing with some controversial opinions on some topics. I won't say any more. Don't want to give away any spoilers. Go and watch it and let us all know what you think.

Currently available on DVD via Amazon for US$19.95 or online via iTunes for US$12.99.
Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
I think the iTunes is for US accounts only. I asked them on FB and they said it is with the Classifications Board in AU and until they pull their fingers out and classify it we won't be seeing it...
Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
As usual we get screwed Down Under. There is a way to get a US iTunes account. If anyone is interested, just Google it.
Also, Amazon are definitely shipping the DVD to Australia.

Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
Be aware it may be in NTSC not PAL.
Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
Good point dave vino. The DVD from Amazon is Region 1 (USA/Canada) NTSC format. It will require a multi-region DVD player and a TV that can cope with the NTSC format when the DVD is played back. Most TV's sold in Australia over the past 10 years can play NTSC.

I do recall buying a Mitsubishi fax in the 80s. $3200 IIRC

Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
I watched the tv programs. Like most reality TV, I can't help but think that I wasted about 3 hours (?) of my life watching it.
Re: Somm: Into The Bottle
I found the original Somm doc much better than the Uncorked TV series.
The TV series tried to build that typical 'reality' style drama.
Two very different styles of viewing.
