Drink a bit less. That's one approach.

We all suffer for our indulgences, one way or another. The Hangover(Groundhog) Day? Drink as much water as you can, then have a beer, whether or not you vomit after that, toast with plenty of (real)butter and vegemite accompanied by freshly-brewed coffee, followed by bacon and eggs, more toast and more fresh coffee. You might not have become much more sober after a big night but you will feel better.

Bloody hell Daryl, mixed success with this particular approach?! :)

20 something years ago as a student, I found that a can of Courage Light Ale (the one in the black tin with the light blue logo and writing) did the trick every time, when followed by a brisk walk and a bacon buttie. In more recent times, I've tended to follow Wayno's method.

Rocket,

That's not a health question its a pesonal habits question. All the replies so far have it - if you don't want the hangover, drink less.

Drink water before, during and after any large session, and a massive greasy continental breakky. (Keep an antacid handy for the post breakky belly).

If you can remember to drink one glass of water (200-300mls) for every standard drink you consume, this both counteracts the dehydration and tends to slow down the alcoholic consumption. It works.
I haven't found the big glass of water before bed makes much difference, but it could be better than nothing. If you have had 5-6 glasses of wine, trying to drink six glasses of water before bed is not very practical. Drinking six glasses of water over the course of the night can also have some practical problems, but is much easier to stomach.

Don't ever drink on an empty stomach and have a pint of berocca with 2 aspro clear in before going to bed. And only drink very expensive wine to excess. This way you get an expensive hangover rather than a cheap one, and do it less often.

Stay away from the red wine option at weddings or other catered functions!

but definitely have at least a couple of glasses of water before you go to bed, and a berocca

Before going to bed:

- Drink boatloads of water
- Have some Berocca if available, otherwise a multivitamin is fine too.
- Eat something greasy and stomach feeling, such as a burger or pizza

In the case where you really must be up and about, having some more alcohol will get you back on your feet. A mate of my old man's was once given ethanol and water by a doctor for this purpose. Obviously not a "remedy" you want to be using frequently.
