That was back in the day when there were no limits restrictions. There was no need then for different mailing list hierarchy. I think the first 'restriction' vintage was 1996.

I only have photocopies of some (not all) of my orders and they are in Black and White and therefore obviously I cannot claim for certain that a specific colour mark was used.
1996 restriction was "a single case limit will apply to each particular red wine".

cheers

I note that JO has awarded the 2013 Wendouree Cabernet Sauvignon his wine of the year! Pity I didn't succeed in getting any last year, hopefully the red crayon will help this year :)

V2014 in theory should be better for Cabernet vs 2013 in Clare.

2014 better?
2013 seems to have worked out pretty good in the review department.
I haven't tried any 13's yet but there's reason to be somewhat excited based on a lot of the feedback I've read.

Currently travelling and I won't be able to fill in my order till mid August. I usually order a bit of everything and get what I ask for. It will be interesting to see if I this is still the case this time.

still no charge to my credit card, but I recall it took awhile last year (and i am lowly red mark, so assume need to wait until priority orders are processed). For those who have been charged / received wine, I'm assuming you are black initial or crayon?

Cactus - are you having us on? I have never heard of an orange mark. How long have you been buying Wendouree?

My wine arrived in Adelaide on July 29th...just 21 days from the time I sent off my order (Black Signature)...pretty quick for Wendouree.

Cheers

I am the same as Craig, based in SA and about a 3 week turn around from time of returning order form (red crayon mark).

I sent mine back few days after I got it.
Card just got charged today.
Adelaide. Red Crayon.
I find the timing can be random (one of the joys!) even with mates who live in similar areas, send at the same time, been on the list the same length.

It would be interesting to know how many cases Wendouree actually produce. I have a sneaky suspicion it would be more than most would think.

Cheers

Most pieces I have read on it (and there isn't much around) say pridiction averaged 2000 cases. Which isn't a whole lot.

In theory, based on the area planted, a 'guess' on the yields and extraction rate, I'd say looking between 3000-3500 case max. production (in good years).
There are not a lot of barrels in the barrel shed, hence as another poster suggested, 2000 cases sounds around the mark.
In good yielding years I hear they sell off some fruit, as they are happy to process what they can manage given the equipment/fermentation space.

some fruit goes to Ashton Hills for their sparkling Shiraz. I have also heard that the Exteter house wine was (maybe still is?!) declassified wendouree.

It's Wendouree 'wedding wine'. That's what Tony told me a couple of years ago.
Haven't seen the Exeter Wendouree Shiraz for a while now. Had it's own label too.
I'm assuming it's all gone.

Second year on list - red crayon this year.

Just received everything I ordered, delivered yesterday which I was a little bit surprised by.

Unfortunately the credit card was prepped to receive (and pay for) about 2/3rds of what I actually got :)
