Dataloggers

Post by Michael McNally »

Hi All

The new cellar is up and running

Cellar1.jpg

Now I would like to see how constant the temperature is and start setting the timer for the aircon. Not that I think it is chewing much juice, but it is switched on all the time.

Anyone know where to get a good datalogger, cheaply? Having a look online, but I haven't really got a clue what I am looking for.

TIA

Cheers

Michael

Hi Michael,
I used to use a lot of data loggers when I was selling vaccines to monitor the fridges. I found a Company called Hastings Data Loggers. Just Google them to get details.
They were very reasonable and you could set the time between taking temperatures very easily. Very reliable loggers.
Mike.

Hi Michael
Looking good. I can't see much mud on those bottles either :).
There is a data logger for temp and humidity on here:

About the price of a current release Grange (does that make it cheap? hmm, probably not).
Also some here that start at less than half that price:

Happy hunting.

Check out eBay. Search for "temperature logger". Should be some cheap options from China/HK but I can't comment on how well they work. Caveat emptor.

All I use is a wireless temp/humidty reader, probe in cellar and wireless unit in lounge which I check twice daily. I only get a variation of 1 degree in summer and .5 in winter. I have a fondis unit that goes 24/7, I just get use to the $700 quarterly power bills. The only problem with a cellar is when you fill it and there is so much more you want to add. Good luck :D

+1 on the Jaycar datalogger. Keeps track of temp and humidity, there is a jpeg plot of data from the logger on a 12-month plot somewhere in a post under my name. Been running for more than 2 years now with no problems (except software won't run on 64-bit computer). It's pretty accurate, and you can choose your measuring interval. Like the idea of wireless monitoring though - very nice!

David.
