Cork Count Competition 2009 - The winner is...
The winner is Christo! Congratulations.
The Competition is closed, two guesses were 1 either side of the actual number, see page 3 for details. A supplementary round will sort out the winner from the two contenders.
It's on again!
This is the empty jar:
The jar is 330 mm high to the top of the cork cap (which counts as 1 cork), circumference around the widest part (irregular shape, measured with a string) is 1000 mm.
This is the jar full of corks:
The competition is open for 2 weeks from today and will be won by the person who nominates a number that is the closest to the actual number of corks in the jar. Only one guess per person. (No editing of your posts with the number chosen.)
The prize is a bottle of John's Blend Cabernet 1999 or a Fox Creek Reserve Cabernet 1998, delivered by Aus Post anywhere in Australia, sorry, I won't send to NZ or elsewhere O/S, but you can still enter for the glory of winning.
Note that this is the same jar as last year, but the difference this year is that there are no mushroom corks from sparkling wines, only cylindrical corks from red wine bottles. The thread for the prior competition is here:

Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)

Re: Cork Count Competition 2009
Getting in early this time. So last time I said 425 and it was 527 and this time there's no sparkling inw corks. I reckon you've probably crammed a couple more in too so I'm guessing 541.
Cheers,
Kris

There seems to be a lot of entering based on last year's result. In 2010 would you consider filling the jar with screwcaps?
