1999 John Riddoch Magnum...should i buy it?

Post by pokolbinguy »

G'day folks,

Just a quick question...I have access to some magnums of 1999 John Riddoch (under $90) and wondering how this wine is traveling?? I have no experience with this label and would like some recommendations.

Cheers.

Buy it for sure ... but these wines demand 20 years. 1990 in 750ml still a bit young imo.

So 1999 in magnum ... could be drinking 2025+.

However your friends will love you for it :D.

1998 and a couple of years onwards was when Wynns seemed to be trading out of the quality slump they found themselves in. At $90, a magnum of JR should be good value. Too much more than that, however, and you are exceeding actual retail price ($50 a bottle) at the time.
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

A fond memory is purchasing the 2004 John Riddoch in 750's for US $17 each. You won't get many opportunities to buy a good cab in magnum form...hope you got it!

It's a fabulous wine. Probably better than the 98.
