Sparkling red (if I can get any more of the Burge Family sparkler that we decided to drink on election night I'll have that) with the Turkey.
Just looking forward to visiting my cellar again for the rest as to be honest I have forgotten a lot of what's there. I suspect a few rieslings and Hunter Sems are ready as well as a lot of 98 reds that I bought up on. We shall see
cheers
Carl

Bartenders are supposed to have people skills. Or was it people are supposed to have bartending skills?

Yes I often have the wine list duties on Christmas Day. So I need to sort out the sparkling and the whites but reds are as per the below:
2003 Langmeil 5th Wave Grenache (Magnum)
1997 Langmeil Freedom Shiraz (Magnum)
1999 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz
1999 Penfolds Bin 128
Think that should be a good enough contribution. Will just need a few decanters!

I'm thinking about buying glassware for everybody on my present list. This would simplify things greatly.
He he. We did this a couple of years back, as we were sick of drinking wine out of tumblers at a couple of our friends' places. All is good now.
Cheers,
Monghead.

Well, I am spending Christmas with my partners (of 5 years) family and extended family. Never met most of them so I need to tread the fine line between impressing them and trying too hard...
Maybe we'll look at:
Foggo Black Myriah Sparkling Shiraz
2002 D'Arenberg Coppermine Road Shiraz
2004 Bin 389
2002 RSW Shiraz
Then again, I might not even like any of the family so maybe the ol cardboard will do...

Rockford Sparkling Shiraz
Castagna Sparkling Genesis
Jospeh Sparkling red (07 disgorgement)
Maybe an Inniskillen Icewine to go with mum's sago plum pudding
The Christmas week could be a little different though
Don't forget to pop a tasting note in for the Castagna. I'm curious about this one but the price keeps giving me second thoughts!
cheers

I'm having real trouble deciding. I rarely splurge on decent champagne, even NV, but have got a bottle of NV Pol Roger this year, which I'm looking forward to. I fancy a nice Pinot on the day for dinner... can't decide whether to open up an 04 or 05 Martinborough Vineyard from the cellar or buy an Ata Rangi or something similar. Perhaps I should splurge on a Dry River, if I can find one??
Cheers,
Mike

Thoughts spared for the workers...

OK
Probable line up:
Piper Heidseck NV
Orlando St Helga 04 Riesling
Shaw and Smith M3 2004 Chardonnay
Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir 02
St Hallett Old Block Shiraz 94
perhaps Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz 1991
Woodstock Botritys current vintage
remains of Seppelt Grand Muscat opened quite recently
Rather looking forward to Christmas Day actually. Christmas Eve proving to be a fairly shapeless and uneventful (albeit relaxing) occasion!

Tonight we had a Paringa Estate Estate Pinot Noir 2006, which was brilliant, and a 2004 Torbreck Descendant, which was unfortunately in some way ruined (tasted cooked, very sweet and simple). I am currently sipping on a Karatta sparkling red (made by Duane Coates) which is good but far too sweet. The Seppelt's 04 was too sweet on release also, but calmed down after a year or so, and I have another bottle of the Karatta which I'll hold onto to see if it can pull the same trick. Tomorrow: 03 disgorgement of Rockford Black....

Rockford Sparkling Black (DG 1989) browning edge showing its age loses bubble fast, nice dry red, sweet liquer hints, very drinkable with breakfast. Note: no leakage
Tattinger NV, showing aldehyde bready toasty aromas nice
Lunch and dinner to come.
