3 bottles of 75 Steinberger Spatlese from Staatsweingüter Eltville.

Not a name that rolls off the tongue, but when you see the white labels and the big eagle they are pretty recognisable.

Yes agree with 2023, but need to stop. The 2023 Leonay and Drumborg I have had are magnificent. I might get 2023 Merle and that will be it.
However, as you have said LB EV/Watervale at $13-13 from TWE is at the same price for what I paid 10+ years ago, for many 2012s, unbelievable value.

2022 Vickery Watervale that I had yesterday was fantastic, wave after wave of lemons and limes...fabulous wine.

Picked up a dozen of the Leo Buring EV too. Hard to ignore at that price.

Grabbed a bottle of the Adelina 1980 Tawny too.

Have been laying low on wine purchases the last month or so.

Ed, had a look at the recent email from Adelina...will probably get a few of the current Shiraz, made from same Wendouree clone and essentially grows across the road. Yes, I am desperately trying to have a spell too

Every time an email lands in the inbox…!

Will have a look at Adelina too when I can. Wine spend has decreased from a budget perspective, so will have to pick and choose a bit more over the next 12 months, which is not a bad thing I suppose.

They made a small boo boo on the Seppelts website that has now been rectified. They have been sent so they have honoured the price. Normally $80 a bottle, they had 6 packs for $120. Only lasted a day before they realised the error. My wife loves Sparkling Shiraz and at that price, it will be a quaffer. Just dirty on myself for not ordering more. I paid $75 a bottle for the 2012.

Cheers

Craig,
After years of avoiding Barossa shiraz, I am dipping my toe in more and more, eg been buying Standish for a few years now, had some Sami-Odi as well. Hard to believe this is my first ever Rockford purchase. Have had some excellent older BP courtesy of others in the last few years. Not sure that the 2020 is right up there, seems quite approachable. Preferred the Rifle Range tbh. These are going straight to storage for a while, so I'll have to wait

Great to hear Malcolm, one day will catch up with you and we can look at a few old ones. The lad has taken over my Stonewallers membership, so are looking to taper off a bit. Yes Sami-odi, Standish, Stonegarten, Setiono, Eperosa and a couple of others.
I agree BV cabernet is a nice drop, PL Mentor, Rockford Rod and Spur and RR are very good. Yearn for some of those old Sepplets Dorien's, see there a a number of 1996s currently on the second hand market.

There are definitely bargains out there - price for Sami-Odi at MW tonight seemed a lot softer than a year ago.

Still plenty of bidders though - a couple of wines I flagged went for more than double the reserve.

I picked up a couple of bottles of 93 St George Cabernet, Lindemans, 6 bottles of 2006 Bella Ridge Fino (for an online tasting) and a rare (for Melbourne) Talijanchic 1965 Solera PX. Only started bidding on that as there was a lot of bidding on the NV Graylyn Artizan Rare Muscat
