true, i'm a tragic low budget drinker and happy to be adventuress,
so when i saw this wine it was a purely "thats unusual" speculative purchase.
Colour is certainly midish strawberry red with nice transparency and vibrancy [the way a Grenache can sometimes appear], and upon first eyeballing i thought "ok, a rose". thats cool, i'm no snob.
anyhow, in the mouth, very smooth, pleasingly lightish and quite ripe but not cloying. almost certainly, un-oaked though more substantial than i would have expected. the fruit was up-frontish and talked strawberries 2 me [the rave said 'summer berries'], a little stewed rhubarb with a some regional spear-mintiness on the mid palate. the blend worked in a nudge nudge wink wink keep the gals smiling way. 13% alc. vol.
sure, it could probably be given a light chill though i didnt bother.
for a late avo summer drink i think it hit the mark. for a 3 year old feral mix it was a unexpected delight and i'd buy it again for casual summer quaffing. i reckon it would go quite ok with bbq chicken snags, fetta, and olives with fresh garden/basil salad. for the bucks, a engaging 83/100. good value, and if i were looking for a budget cleanskin to knock off at a summer bbq [or couch surfing] I'd happily tick the yes box. it was a definite leg up on a too sweet by half 2002 Hardys Sangiovese i tried a while back.

For $10 you can get a 93 Shiraz/Durif cleanskin from Warrabilla thats plenty big enough and Ballsy enough for most . It was due for Reserve but the 02 and 04 are bigger and better. See thru it aint!

but sometimes i feel our tastebuds can be bludgeoned into dumb submission. maybe thats why so many drinkers of monster reds laugh at pinot drinkers.

yeah, i knocked off the HOTTEST and BEST curry ever the other day. And the 6 pack of take no prisoners Elephant Lager i knocked off with the Vindy made me feel like a hero! big deal i think. did they actually taste it? CHEERS > didiwah dave

Bug reds
The nice things about good big reds is that they have flavour and are balanced. This little no is not about palate bludgeoning, not eeven the Reserves or the bigger Parolas do that.
I agree if you have pain sensations with bigger stuff.....thats not fun, drink something else.
