This year seems very random. Haven't heard a peep and I usually get my wine (it's only a mixed dozen, hardly a crap load) within a couple of weeks. Suspect I may be missing out this year despite sending the form through after 2 days. C'est la vin.

You mean you don't send your order back in an A3 sized bright pink envelope???

I ordered mine about 10 days after getting the letter and received the 3 mixed cases last week. Amazingly I haven't had any, although I am very curious to see how the Pressings is so I might crack one on the weekend.

if that helps i will make a metallic silver envelope next year plus DHL express just in case. but i'm happy to received my 4 boxes of marius today, that balance it.

Read a very positive report on the `17 Pressings last night, suggesting it is very good drinking now, would be great to hear another note. Looking to crack a Shiraz Malbec over the weekend myself.

They are very meticulous down there, not a thing out of place.

I was there in 2013 mid July and it was all hands on deck with outgoing deliveries.
Looked like a pretty slick operation to me.
Tony took me from go to whoa thru the whole place/process and it was pretty clinical from grapes in to packed boxes out.

They are selling mixed 6 packs of the reds for $600 and the pressings for $110 each.

They said they have put it in their newsletter and expect to sell out today.
Shit, so we have all just doubled our money...in retail land at least!! Sure pays to be on the mailer. guess its a brave buy at that price, but if folks want it badly enough...
That belongs in the egregious wine thread surely!!

Thanks for the tip, spose they have to pay for the shop expansions somehow

Cheers Craig
If that's bad - I was in Adelaide this weekend and called into Melbourne St Cellars for the tasting, I noticed they have a bottle of 2015 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro for $140 (!!) ... whoever buys that is a perfect proof of the greater fool theory.

Here is my take on it..

Impenetrable colour, garnet bubbles/froth on the pour, blackberry, dark fruits, super silky mouthfeel, big wine, touch of heat/alcohol on first sips although only 13.4%. Dusty/grippy tannins that appear towards the front and sides and stay a good while. It’s Wendouree Jim, but not as we know it. Blind, I’d be thinking an elegant Mclaren Vale, like a big flashy younger brother.

The heat dissipates as your palate re-calibrates. Lovely raspberry/blackberry/red liquorice on the back palate that just sits there, great presence, it finishes clean (with the usual Wendouree acid) and there are no confected notes in those flavours so they don’t detract. Super drinkable now. All I can say, is I should have got more!!

Thanks Dave, Sounds great. I did not get the Shiraz Malbec, I was busy ferrying kids around for most of the weekend. Note coming soon though.

Charged today. Worked out I am getting 4 of the 7 6'ers I ordered. Looks like I missed the Cabernet and the Shiraz this year... The 4 case will be either the Malbec or Pressings. Hope it's the pressings!

Can confirm Cabernet, Shiraz and Pressings are sold out. Missed out on all 3....again. Been ordering for quite a while now and this is the 3rd time I've missed out on wines. I only order 3 or 4 of everything. It's a bit frustrating. Along with Rockford, it's the only winery my wife insists we order from. Oh well, money saved.

Cheers
Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Ian, it pains me to say this , particularly to someone like you , who is like many of us here , who really enjoy these wines, to miss out.
Always suspected a triple blend Pressings (or any wine for that matter), a first for Wendouree, unless not disclosed in 05, 97 or 88 would go like hot cakes and it has.
It also pains me to say for such a small make, the 'venture capitalists' will announce themselves soon by being the first flippers at auction. Yes the Brady's aren't too fussed, and perhaps I'm naive and its natural selection at play...but I would be really pissed if I had a long ordering history such as yourself and have missed out so often.
Mine won't be sold, they will be drunk, but suspect the reserves will be pretty healthy.

Cheers craig

Finally charged. I'm a red stripe and ordered 6x of everything except CM I ordered 12. Sent form off as soon as received. Looks like I am getting SMataro, Shiraz Mal and 12x CM. Everything else gone. If so I am very glad I got CM as its my favourite. Might just order 6x of everything next year and wait a week or so before sending the form back...

One of my 6 packs was officially declared lost yesterday -s omeone somewhere has 3 SMat, 2 SMal and 1 Cab Mal that they should not have. Suspicious ? Not really - I think the thieves would be after the straight Shiraz.

A replacement pack is being sent out, which is as it should be.
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts.

2017 Shiraz Malbec consumed over Friday / Saturday night, this was definitely better on the second day after extended air time. On initial opening and after 3 hours in the decanter it still needed vigorous aeration to open up. Flavours of plum, dark cherries, aniseed/liquorice lingering in the back ground, dried herbs, with an earthy / rustic nuance to the wine. Medium bodied/weight to the palate, with fine to firm type tannins that creep up on you on the finish. What is noticeable is the higher acidity, to me it adds a glossy/steeliness to the wine. I’ve tried the last 3-4 vintages of this wine on release, the 2017 feels a bit ‘meatier’ and less approachable at this stage. Definitely needs some time to come together. 13.2% alc.

I recently wrote to Wendouree requesting to be added to their 2020 mail list. I received a very professional hand written response advising that the mail list is full and that they are not accepting any new members at least for the next 2 years due to reduced volume in their vintages. :( :(

My missus done the same thing this year and received a similar response but lo and behold, a form appeared, order processed and couple of bottles delivered.

Hmm, received only a politely worded hand-written letter to say we weren't getting anything this year as they'd run out of everything except the shiraz/malbec, which was the only wine we didn't order. In our seventh year of continuous ordering, this is very disappointing. Oh well, I guess we save our money this year, or maybe spend it on something else special, but what?
