I should be good to go. Need to check with the fun coordinator though. I would be keen for a decent dinner at something like Courgette, but anything is cool.

12th or 13th could work for me. Would prefer the Friday night (12th) rather than the Saturday.

I'm good for the 12th but I won't be up for anywhere even remotely expensive.

What about somewhere like Trev's in Dickson? I've been to a couple of wine dinners there and the food was pretty good. Will need to check that they still do corkage though.

Is the price range okay or are we talking 'Beijing House' price range DD?

Happy to bring something decent to celebrate the festive season.

Cheers
M

I think I can come at Trev's prices.

The best thing about Beijing House, apart from the price, is the many courses which helps with the varied consumption of the wines.

I guess one could do a degustation somewhere, although I remember trying that before with limited success and it won't be inexpensive.

Trev's is off the list - booked out. It's a possibility for next year.

Other suggestions?

We could go back to the old faithful Beijing House. Perhaps with a larger table this time 8)

Top night last night lads...

No detailed notes taken so literally drawing memories from the photo roll on my iphone....always a good sign.

wines included:
- some incredible Alsatian gear (Louis? Sipp Berg de Ribeauville Grand Cru - possibly a 98 or a 99? Correct me if I'm wrong here Ross)
- Eva Fricke Lorcher Riesling 2011
- Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Trocken 2011
- Some Sancerre action - Lucien Crochet 'Vendange du 10 Octobre' Sancerre 2006
- Rockford Cab Sav 2005 - mystery wine :)
- Penfolds Bin 128 1998
- Langhi Ghiran Shiraz 1998
- Wynn's Michael Shiraz 1994
- Seppelt Botrytis Gewurtzraminer 1998

Cheers

It was a good night last Thursday, although I was somewhat less industrious than usual on Friday.

I have attached a photo of the evenings consumption, but for mine the best wines were the 2011 Eva Fricke 'Lorch' and the 1994 Penfold's Bin 128 - a timely reminder of why Penfold's wines are priced the way they are.

I'd also like to thank Brett and Lyndsay who brought a 'mystery wine' which formed the basis for a short game of wine options. This made things quite interesting and is something I'd like to do more of in the new year.

Well it is the "age of austerity" here in Canberra...Didn't you get the memo from the treasurer? we've been told to do more with less

Glad you liked the Fricke Lorcher - she does some intelligent wines. There's the remenants of a mixed 6 pack somewhere in my cellar. As an aside the Haag wasn't bad either on night 2.

Personal favourite was probably the Alsatian gear.

You are making people afraid to reply in case it goes over the page! I like the Pennies statement Duncan. "Excuse me sir, you dropped your gauntlet!"
