Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer
Being a beginner in the Wendouree world, my 81 year old father-in-law who is responsible for my later in life interest in red wine says he isn't waiting 20 years to try this wine I have been "rattling on about for the last 4 years!!" So I will have to open a 2022 when my small purchase ar...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer
We opened a 2022 Malbec last night as a treat watching the footy with a porterhouse steak and chips. Beautifully perfumed, elegant, refined and 'fine boned'. Medium bodied at best, fruit forward, well judged oak. Lots to like, nice balanced wine, a bit of acidity and nice lingering/softish tannins. ...

Chatting to a Clare restaurateur whose cellar near mine in Kennards, definitely an allocation now for Clare businesses as well as local pickers, with high take up ans forwarding their allocations. When he saw my Great Wall of Wendouree, he offered to buy. Not a seller. 24b has formed a new section ...

A couple of easy drinking wines over course of Fathers day: 2023 Henschke Peggy’s Hill Riesling, Eden Valley. A beautifully crafted wine, fruit driven with lovely limes, some slate/mineral tones, nice acidity with very good length. A real crowd pleaser. 2022 John Duval Concilio Grenache/Shiraz (86%/...

6 X Wynns Old Vine Shiraz - had to after some of the reviews on here. Cheers Ed Yeah I actually preferred the 22 Shiraz over the 22 BL cab, which I thought was strange, as I thought they were more well known for their cab. Got it from Dan Murphys for approx $20 a bottle, can’t go wrong In terms of ...

Popped and poured a 2022 Wynns Coonawarra Black Label Shiraz on saturday night, and had a glass last night. Very impressive wine with a nice spice note that I find very attractive in it. Dare say one of the better wines I have tried recently. Going back to buy the remainder at its discounted price....

Three years later,I decided to check whether the wine would evolve with time (as per discussions below) and the answer is .... I'm not sure. It's very faintly lighter in colour than in 2021. There's still plums, raspberries and red fruits on the nose, with a touch of charcuterie and licorice. Oak i...

Re: Wickman’s Wine Auction Closure
Very disappointed to see this local SA auction house shutting its doors. I was never a secondary market buyer until I got involved with Wickman’s as I valued their provenance assessment. Only one dishonest vendor put up a cooked wine claiming perfect provenance over 1000’s of purchases. More import...

2012 Rockford BP. In a great spot, excellent cork, dark purple colour. Long plush savoury core, firm finish. Lovely wine with 1-2 decades to go. Cheers Craig Great to hear. How was the 2001 Shiraz Mataro compared to the Shiraz Malbec?
Opened and decanted the first of my 2014 Shirazs this morning for dinner tonight to see how it is tracking. Lovely aromas initially, looks to be at the lighter end of medium bodied.

I’m sitting the 2023 vintage out for Barossa shiraz . There are plenty of average wines according to those in the know…. And plenty of good ones from 2021 and 2022 yet to be released. Mike, I share similar sentiments. There are still 100-200 bottles that I would like from 2021/22. I am not so convinced with 2023, late with some additional rain leading to disease pressure. Think 2023 will be the try before you buy vintage. Cheers Craig totally agree on 2023. There was a bit of ra...

just to close this out - we (Brett and I) came to the conclusion that the 6 pack must have been heat affected. Each bottle in the 6 had the same problem. No one else has experienced it so seems the most likely outcome. I have never had this happen before Was the heat at your end or his, or in trans...

He's had hygiene issues in the past.
Can't remember which year it was, but he didn't release any wines because of the issues he had within the winery.

I was involved with a tasting late last week across a number of varieties and regions. For me, an absolute stand out was the 2021 Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay - it is stunning. The finesse, balance and length blew a number of tasters away. I am not a huge chardonnay drinker, but I took the remnant...
