What do you like/love? Grew up with the likes of Nirvana, Beck, Ween, Pixies. ... but my tastes run the gamut from classical to jazz to hip hop to etc etc.. What is your newest discovery? Haruomi Hosono. Japanese guy who has been some kind of wacky genius over decades and I can't believe I've only n...

Re: The shame of Constellation, Accolade & the local Government
:( Anyone got any info on this beyond the TT report? As I understand it, Stony Hill was ripped out on the pretext that the vines were unhealthy, with the claim at the time that the larger vineyards on the other side of the road were the important ones. Now the argument is that it was Stony Hill that...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
I was at the Marius picking yesterday too! Had to leave at midday to get back to Adelaide to teach a class at 2, so I missed out on all the fun stuff :( I'll be back there on Saturday though so say g'day and I can put a name to a face. 2009 Langmeil 'Fifth Wave' old vine grenache last night (& t...

Thanks gang - I will definitely be focusing on the eastern part of the Bellarine but hoping I get the chance to explore the Lethbridge area a bit too!

Geelong / Bellarine recommendations
Hi all,
I'm going to be staying in Queenscliff on the Bellarine peninsula for a few days and I would really appreciate some guidance on wineries to visit. I'm over from SA and don't know a lot about the local producers so anything will be a great help!
Cheers

Re: TN 2013 Noon Eclipse
Ohhhh man... I tasted some at the winery when picking up my order and it's fantastic. The 2012 has a bit of an alcohol whiff to it but this one seems just so balanced. I wish I could have bought more than 3 bottles but sadly finances are conspiring against me! Gonna try to hold off as long as possib...

Re: Aged Red Wines - what am I doing wrong?
I've only just really started buying wines to put away for years, and I'm just worried that I won't enjoy the age on them as much as I think! I haven't really drunk much aged wine to date ... but I'm finding more appreciation these days for wines that aren't so fruit-forward so that might be a sign ...

Just ornamental I assume... and to rub salt into the wounds the new townhouses have gone up on cul-de-sacs called 'Cabernet Close' and 'Sauvignon Way'

Awesome, thanks. I'm interested especially in the symbolic significance held by old vines so it's good to read about various controversies re: uprooting historical vineyards.

Wow - thanks everyone - keep them coming! Mahmoud, with regard to the old Hamilton vineyard at Marion, I believe that those vines were planted in 1909 .. Apparently the oldest urban vineyard in the world (!), currently managed by Patritti.

Old vine producers - SA
Hey all, I'm doing some research into old vine wines and am keen to get some names of producers that make wines from very old vineyards (especially those in South Australia but would be keen to hear about other states too).
Cheers!
Cheers!

Cool, thanks. Yeah my drinking is usually pretty SA-centric but I always like to expand my horizons and see what else is out there!

Granite Belt wineries
OK... I'm going to be doing a flying visit to Stanthorpe area soon and probably have time to drop in on one or two cellar doors .. haven't drunk any Granite Belt wines before so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on (a) good producers in the region, and (b) the varietals that best sui...

Re: Some direction for a novice.
Check out Nectar in West End as well - primarily craft beers I think, but I remember there being heaps of interesting wines in there as well..
