Thank you for those notes, much appreciated. I would like to have access to more such wines here in Tropical North Queensland. Had a couple of lovely albarinos when in Europe recently. Muscadet sur lie and albarinos go well w sea food and heat up here.

Re: Finding Bottles in the Cellar

[quote="Mahmoud Ali"]Has anyone ever found a bottle in their collection that they either forgot or overlooked? definitely, great isnt it. One of the advantages of getting older, and of forgetting to enter wines in the database when they arrive in the cellar. 'Computer says no' is a comedy...

Charmail has arrived in Brisbane, I saw many many cases with my own eyes on Saturday. How much? pay the premium for Burgundy over Aus pinot - to me there is a difference. But some of the 05 prices (for Rousseau and the like) made me baulk. Yes, but that can be a lottery too. I, and my wife even mor...

Gavin I strongly support the idea that participants are all best served by openness and straightforwardness: that means representing oneself accurately, including name. May I proffer a thought for those who presently feel unable to do this for reasons such as those mentioned by Gavin, e.g. 'in trade...

I've never had a Citran Hello Wizz, you are not that far south of us, I'll bring you a citran next time I visit Bris! You may not thank me for that! Unfortunately I have a few left still! I have also had an old Tahbilk epiphany, i think it was a 76 a few years ago. Amazing for its age. The comparis...

shaking the remainder in the bottle vigorously, Yes, I do that w rieslings (I was refering to riesling, not shiraz) There were a few of these in the early days as makers learned how to prepare wines for bottling under screwcap, I haven't seen many recently Yes, I appreciate that and agree. Greetings from Tropical North Queensland I have some (low level) science knowledge, but I'm not sure if the lees that get into the bott can make a wine more reductive after it has been closed. In other words (and aside from wines like V port we are talking v small quantities of lees) do they have su...

"if you have other Bordeaux, particularly from a good vintage I suggest cellaring them a bit longer." Yes ... but! I am going to call that the 'French excuse'. My (modest) experience is that if it is good (balanced) young it may get better, if it isn't it won't. There seems to be an idea t...

Hi, Edmonton Canada? Well, the Chateau Citran should be the most "Bordeaux-like" no? Yes, I did not mean to be enigmatic: I was approaching it from the position of someone who has now lived in Aus for 25 yrs, appreciates Aus Cab & blends, and is revisiting Bdx trying to find value, and...

Reductive

Greetings from Tropical North Queensland. New. Was reading re tasting of 2002 rieslings. Had an 02 Leonay (src/c) tonight; it was unpleasantly reductive, like the 02 mitchels. Will age moderate that or not?
