Re: Most beautiful labels

The above images don't seem to be working unless I'm logged in ??...

How do you fix this? Anyone?

They are supposed to be Rousseau Chambertin, Pichon Baron, La Spinetta Barbaresco.
And also Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone, I Sodi di San Niccolo, and Robert Weil.

I wasn't really tracking any of the wines listed by dlo above. However, it does seem to me that Langtons has been pushing up estimates significantly over the last 12 months, particularly for Burgundy. I find this very hard to explain given the concurrent unravelling of global financial markets, econ...

If AP numbers represent a particular 'cuvee', does it follow that a given AP number is the same blend of vineyards (or single vineyard) each year? Are the same AP numbers produced year in year out? Eg. does Schaefer always make a #5 and a #17 Spatlese from Graacher Domprobst? Are they always from th...

I recently purchased a case of Vinecreat 2001 Shiraz; however I thought the F'Able was better. Cheer...

Wine shops, restaurants and duty free in Hong Kong

Going to Hong Kong soon, and wondered if anyone can recommend a good wine shop for sourcing a few bottles of top level French wine at reasonable prices (ie better than in Oz) to bring back home. I gather alcohol taxes are high, so prices are not exactly cheap. However, can you not buy duty free or g...

Auction terms & conditions

I have bought quite a bit of wine from auction, but have never given too much thought about provenance. Thanks Wizz for your suggestions. You're right, its not sweet like a Sauternes say. But sometimes, I'm led to believe, Botrytis can come into play with VT wines. Problem seems to be that you can't tell from the label exactly how sweet its going to be, unless I guess you're familiar with the producer...

Alsace Wine Pairing Advice

I recently came to own 2 bottles of 1997 Hugel Gewurztraminer Vendange Tardive from Alsace. I'm keen to try one, but not sure what food to have it with. Being a late harvest wine would suggest with desert, but I gather the degree of sweetness can vary a lot with VT wines (some are even vinified comp...
