Re: Langtons site crash

I noticed the same thing, was bidding on a bottle about 1 minute out from closing, and it just sat on the clock...maybe business is booming or we all have nothing else to do, but bid on wine. Some of the prices paid lately have been nuts..well over reserve

Tried the following 2002 Richmond Grove Shiraz. This bottle was a beauty. Dark rich luscious fruit, long palate. This bottle only had the one medal on it, the others I've bought have had two and I don't think they have been as good as this one. Perhpas an earlier bottling? 2004 Thorn Clarke Shotfire...

Wine Tasting Without Scores

Hi This is a bit of a pet bent of mine. Sorry if it should like I'm preaching. But I read a number of reviews from wine "experts" who give their opinions on wine and a nice story to match, but no scores. Surely, a review without a score is just advertising? What do you guys think? regards ...

Were all these Pinots decanted for 6-8 hours?

Mike

I'm genuinely interested in the young-vine toffee phenomenon too. First time I've heard of it. Yep that's my understanding/observation. I have asked winemakers about this character and generally when it's been detected they confirm that as the source. I'm no expert, so happy to take advice. regards...

Thanks for the the help on wine selection. All these wines were tasted blind. Wine of the lunch went to the 05 Battista It had been decanted for about 6-8 hours. It had dark colour, very funky nose and good structure. Fruit driven and reminded me of a Martinborough. Very attractive at $25 (It's from...

1998 Lindemand Pyrus The wine opened with a very attractive nose good mix of cedar and berry fruit. Unfortunately, the palate didn'y match. The wine was very cedary, almost over oaked for the diminishing fruit. A style from another era almost, or they thought the fruit would carry the oak. I gave i...

Is there a Grenache Drinker in the House?

Hi
our wine drinking group has proposed a grenache tasting.

I can't remember ever having a great grenache.

So I thought I ask the experts about a recommendation to take along that's drinking well now and is obtainable.

regards and thanks in advance

Gramps Shiraz 2002 Showed great slabs of fruit on the nose, but had a waft of corkiness. And there was a hint of hashness on the palate. we tried the following blind 2002 Claire from O'Leary Walker. Chocolate and sweet fruit, very much in the McLaren Vale mould. Had a green stalky finish, not sure I'd be in a hurry to buy a heap at that price. (17.5) 2004 Paringa Estate Shiraz. Very Peppery on the nose and the palate. Actually too pe...
