**NEW DATE** Next Adelaide Offline.. Thurs 18th June

Accomodating the clash of calendars... new date...

Show of hands please?

The plan is:
Russell's for dinner - $35/head includes a banquet (gourmet pizza style inc dessert) and all corkage. Theme - Small producers?

For those that (wisely) want to stay, there is plenty of accom in the McLaren Vale/Willunga area, inc a pub just down from Russell's

The morning would bring breakfast at Fino (various prices, not including corkage  )

Am happy to organise booking for dinner and Fino, but will leave it to the individuals with regards to accomodation. Same goes for minibus/taxi sharing if that's what people would like.

So what say you?

cheers
Sarah

Offline at Russells is a winner IMO, unfortunately clashes with the Dutschke dinner.

What about the 30th then?
Unless of course no one is going to the Dutschke dinner...

We can't make the 30th, but that's just us :)

At this stage I'm interested, although it already looks like being a busy end of month for me. Anyone know when Ric & Brian are in SA to try and catch them during their 2009 tour? Nayan could be back in town around then too.

Cheers,
Ian

Ps. In regard to future offline venues, last month we had a shocking experience at the Caledonian (Bartons) for my Dad's 80th - just about everything they could screw up, they did. The Rising Sun Inn at Kensington last year was just as disappointing.

I'm still struggling to find an equivalent to what Soho used to be - I've heard The Sauce is as good as ever and at this stage would probably be the safest bet.

Nuts, I love that place - haven't had a bad experience yet.

With regards to a potential offline, I'm not fussy about dates yet - I don't have anything planned until mid June.

Sauce would work well for me for future reference. Close to home... handy.

Not quite sure when I'm getting back to town. Looking at attending the Auckland Stonyridge offline on the same date.

Don't hold things up on my account.

Offline date preference?

Ok by good fortune I happened to go to Russell's on Fri night, and they can accomodate larger bookings, but for this offline I recommend limiting the numbers to 14.

I will book this week based on that number so I know we can get in.

Can I please have a show of hands for preferences for the following dates:
Sat 23rd May (clashes with Dutschke dinner) OR
Sat 30th May

Thanks
Sarah

After bumping the thread, and proposing a date, I'm sad to say that if this is at Russel's, Jaz and I won't be able to attend - unfortunately we can't afford the Willunga trip. Have fun everybody, though!

This is going to be a very tricky week for me as my 40th falls midweek between the two dates, and (as usual) my family hasn't worked out anything yet (or told me anyway). At this stage I'd favour the 30th, as my brother is off to Perth on the 26th and if they choose a weekend for anything it's likely to be the 23rd - that said, it's probably safer to count me as a non-starter for either of those dates.

Cheers,
Ian

It looks as though I wouldn't be able to make it on either of those dates...!

This is interesting. If I weren't busy both dates I'd love to go, but I don't want to spend the night down there. I think I mentioned in the previous thread that I'd be up for getting a minibus or at least a giant taxi to take myself and a few other people there - perhaps if the dates could be altered to a time that is suitable for everyone/more people there would be a few takers for a bus/taxi from a somewhat central Adelaide location.

Splitting a taxi or a bus six or ten ways would make it a tolerable expense.

I haven't been to Russell's for years and I really want to!

I can make the 23.rd but not unfortunately the 30th. Hope it works out as i've enjoyed the food there in the past, but perhaps someone has a more up to date and broader knowledge of the menu. Small producers is good theme.

Well.. now that PaulG can't make it anyway, the date is pretty flexible.

What if we left it off until June? What about the 6th?

Yeah, thanks Mark.

At the risk of thread drift, what wines from Bordeaux are you looking at smuggling in?

Ian

I could be a starter for this as it is just down the dirt track from my place.

Is there a set date though?

I just rang Russels and the options are as follows:-

A la Carte (corkage $7 per bottle)
2 courses inc. corkage $32
3 courses inc. corkage $37

Hi Glen

I have left this for a bit, as it seems to be too far off for people (other than me!) to contemplate.

I am still keen, but I am waiting back for word from Andrew Jefford, who I have invited along to it. I had a response from him that he was keen, but he has some trouble with that kinds of location on a weekend, and added his two very young children. So I have proposed to him an alternative of having it closer to the city, and we can do Russell's on another time.

Will update the forum as soon as I hear back from him again.

Tricky for me to say if I can make it at this stage - one of my wine clubs was due to have its annual dinner the following weekend, but with both the Ed's annual Shiraz Challenge and now the following happening in the Barossa the same weekend there's a good chance it may be moved forward.

am starting to think that someone more 'in the loop' with wine events should take this off my hands - I just don't know when any of these things are happening?!

Can someone perhaps fill in for me with a list of the next 2 month's wine events, so I can try and work around them?

Offline - now at The Sauce, Dulwich, thurs June 18th

Ok, I have run this past Andrew Jefford, and it works with his schedule.

The offline has been moved from Russells to The Sauce.
The menu options I will post shortly, but it will be a 3 course set menu, including corkage, for $65ph.
Theme is favourite small producers.

Looking forward to this one, and I hope we can share a few gems with Andrew.

Jaz and I are in!!

Let us know if we need to contact the Sauce directly to organise our jewish-friendly meals :)

We'll probably try and bring along something from Stringy Brae (cab sauv most likely) and a JJ Hahn (maybe a Reginald?)
