Fleming Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

Recieved a sample of this wine to try, so I opened this to share with family over a BBQ tonight. Here is what I thought:
Dense dark red purple. The nose shows blackberry, pencil shavings and some tomato leaf, and evenutally some vanilla, all lifted with a bit of VA (Note to self: do not serve wines at room temperature when its near 30 degrees! worm night again Davo ). On the palate this starts out similarly , black fruits, vanilla choc, and subtle tannins. Finishes with good length, and very pleasant indeed.
Comments from others (not wine nut types) at at the BBQ varied from the simple "nice" to "very persistent", quite positive I thought.
Might hold and perhaps improve for a couple of years, but why wait, drink it now. Price? Dunno. Fair value? Its tough out there, so $16 to $18 is the money right now.
cheers
Andrew
