'98 Tarrawarra Pinot Noir
Good plum, spice and forest floor nose, showing some richness, everything on the nose (bar the forest floor) following through to the palate with ripe fruit. The only detraction being a wiff of green on the mid palate. Otherwise I'd have to say a very good Pinot from an O.K. vintage in the Yarra Valley. drinking well.
'98 Bannockburn Chardonnay.
A wine from the vintage that was completely wiped out by hail, many wineries donating fruit to help out. It is well documented how good the '98 Shiraz is, even though it is not exactly "Bannockburn" in style. And I'd have to say the same here. Very good Chardonnay, drinking superbly, but not in the typical Bannockburn style.
'02 D'Arenberg Laughing Magpie.
Ah, I just can't keep my hands of this wine. I wonder how long (or short) the dozen is going to last at this rate. Bloody ripper of a wine!
