Margaret River 2007

Early indicators show that there will be some great reds produced from Margaret River in 2007. Which wines have you all tried so far that would warrant further investigation?
I was in MR for 4 days last November, and had a chance to try a couple (Still a lot of 2006s around at this stage). The ones that peaked my interest were:
Hay Shed Hill Cab (made by Michael Kerrigan of Howard Park fame)
Cullen Mangan
A lot more 2007 whites were available for tasting, and the standouts for me were:
Woodlands Chloe Chardonnay
Pierro Chardonnay
Howard Park Chardonnay
I don't enjoy Sem Sauv Blanc blends, I find them far too sweet, and don't get into the grassy characteristics.

Add 2007 MossWood Chardonnay for sure. Outstanding in every way.
Heading down in T-72 hours and counting. Will let you know if I come across any others (cross fingers they bring out the 07's).

07 Chardonnays from the Fine wines of WA tasting:
The 07 Pierro was weighty as is its wont. If you like those big powerful chardonnays (and I have to admit to liking them every now and then) this is the goods.
The 07 Vasse Felix Heytesbury had a fresh sawn plank of french oak on the nose but the palate was very good.
The 2007 Devil's Lair was the best value I think. Was leaner than most but was in balance and had a nice spicy character that I like. Perky
From a dinner the other night the wine below took line honours over the Woodlands Chloe (I think it was the 07). The Chloe was just too young at present and slightly disjointed where as 2007 McHenry Hohnen Calgadup Brook Chardonnay was just singing. Was a lean, saline finish to a structured nutty, savoury wine.
There seems to be two types of Margaret river chardonnay: The big, bold types a la Pierro and Leeuwin and the mealy, nutty savoury types like the Cullen and some Mosswoods. I must drink more of them to confirm this hypothesis I think

Woodlands 07 Margaret (Cab/Mer) - took a while to open but when it did it was all violets and blue fruits- definite 5+ years

Both the Flametree reserves - Cab Sav and Shiraz - are fantastic MR 2007s for my money. I was there just over a week ago and generally it's still 06s at cellar doors. They can't seem to shift them - wonder why...

We don't have a cellar door as such, but are open by appointment for those who may be interested. We'll be in all weekend with grapes still on the vines and odd jobs to do - so if anyone is down and is interested in tasting some excellent boutique wine drop me a PM and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
If you want to check up on the wines, most of them have been tasted on winefront and all score very well. Hope some of you can make the trip out (... we may even let you pick our grapes

Hey Justin, 2007's i've tried so far and would happily recommend having a look at -
Fraser gallop Cab Merlot
Ringbolt Cab Sav
have also heard good reports on the Hay Shed and Woodlands, looking forward to trying more as the year goes on.

The Margaret was one of the wines we bought during 5 days there this last week. It was one of the absolute standouts of all the 07 tastings. At $33 (6+) you can't go wrong.

Well just ordered myself a dozen of the woodlands margaret cab/merlot based on the comments from this forum.
