1995 Houghton Jack Mann Cabernet Shiraz Malbec

The second instalment of a mini-vertical of the '94, '95 and '96
Excellent deep crimson. Fascinating bouquet of deep-set black fruits complexed by spicy, malty oak and hints of turnip and undergrowth/forest floor. The palate displays excellent fruit (sadly missing in the '96) - currants, black plums and blackberries with assertive malty oak and powerful drying dusty tannins that just go on and on throughout the 45 second finish. Full-bodied with an abundance of acid this wine needs at least 5 years in the cellar before being ready to drink. Rated - Highly Recommended (with a bullet for future improvement)
