I see Robin Garr has just given her a bouquet over on WLDG, and I was wondering if anyone here subscribes. £49 is pushing A$120, which is pretty costly for a 12-month subscription, particularly as you don't get anything printed out to read on the train! In her favour, I do believe that having paid for, say 2003, you do continue to retain acces to information posted in that year, even if you don't renew in 2004.
But still, I'm wondering if anyone here has first hand experience and would recommend it?
cheers,
Graeme

Jancis...
I am a subscriber under slightly discounted student rate....
The Purple Pages are pretty good for her tasting notes. However, many of the large tastings she reports on are for Old World wines and wines that may not be available in Australia, or if so, in very limited quantity.
Access to Purple Pages also includes access to her forum and an on-line version of the Oxford Companion.
I personally like Jancis' outlook on the world of wine, and her slight English conservatism/reserve - or should I say, her tendency to take a more analytical/judged view on things, rather than getting caught up in hype.
As to whether it is good value, it depends what you are looking for. Frankly, I find the Wine News and Wine of the Week (both available free) to be useful and interesting and would perhaps wonder if I would get value out of more detailed tasting notes if I was Down Under.
Hope this is of use.
Cheers
