Vietnam Wines

I am heading up for a Honeymoon in Vietnam, staying at Evason Hideaway Ninh Van Bay for 4 nights, that looks like it has a pretty good wine cellar (god knows at what prices though). Also spending time in Hoi An and Saigon/HCMC. What can I expect in terms of wine over there? I would guess plenty of french, but would like to know peoples experience in storage over there and relative prices? Or should I plan on sticking to beer?
Cheers
Dave

I would be planning on sticking with the beer to be honest mate.

I have traveled to vietnam twice and both times found the wine scene to be fairly non-existent, not that I really went looking to be honest. Its not really in their culture and most restaurants that sell wine....well you wouldn't want to try it anyway.

Some other members of the forum may be able to point you in the right direction though.

Thanks for the response - I imagine you may be right. The places where there is wine I am expecting it to be expensive.

i was there 1.5 year ago - you're right, there are plenty of cheap french wines, but if you know where to look, you should be able to find oz wines - i went to a western style supermarket Metro just outside of saigon (apparently the only one of its kind in vn back then) - where you can find typical oz staples eg. Pendfolds, Evan & tate etc ...

it's not a wine drinking country - so stick your beer mate.
