Merlove - a movie about Merlot

Well it had to happen sometime. The movie Sideways was seen as doing so much damage to Merlot (at least in the US) that a response had to be produced, and now it has with Rudy McClain's Merlove. Its a documentary that eventually finds it way to Ch. Petrus.

Check out the trailer. Its the first time I've ever heard a wine described as "Sophia Loren's dirty underwear."

I dunno, have you ever tried a Cab from central north QLD?

*giggles to self*

oh yeah, when i was watching Sideways, he seemed to really hate merlot

that kinda got me thinking... hrm.. maybe merlot is also bad

i'll reserve judgement until i actually try some myself

my friend tells me he didn't like merlot, and then the other day he tells me he doesn't like shiraz that much either. and i was like "what do you like? theres only two reds left"

he probably just doesn't like wine that much

whats a good $20 (from DM) of merlot to cut my teeth on (whatever that expression is)?

Wowzer.. young man, you do have alot to read about wine! There are far more red varietals than you think! And then, the blends!

Think.. more like, hundreds of varietals.

You remind me of the famous line from Blanche Dubois in "A Streetcar Named Desire". It is the line about 'kindness" and "strangers". You will have to look it up. It's a little project for you.
Apologies for drifting the thread. I still haven't had a good merlot outside Bordeaux. I could have tried a bit harder, to be honest.

I recently opened a 2001 Merlot from Olsen (Margaret River) - I think it's the best Merlot I've ever had. I normally steer clear of straight Merlot as I usually find it ordinary.
