Magazine and Book Begging

Hi all,

I am looking for old wine magazines and books. I will happily pay you for them plus postage AND open a glass of vino for you when next you are in Adelaide if you are so inclined.

I have been avidly collecting and reading old "wine and spirit" and winestate magazines and find them fascinating. Some VERY kind people from this forum sent me boxes of magazines in response to an earlier request and I am happy to report I have read them all now :) and I now need more material for the grey matter to absorb.

Also, anything from the early 70's, 60's and especially the 50's would be very much appreciated.

I saw that Ric in the Australian I think.

Mark
I recall last time you asked regarding this. Are there any old books in particular you are looking for?
I glance in bookshops occassionally.
The last interesting book I read was 'the heart Break grape' written by a guy whom tried a Jensen Mt Harlan pinot and chased down the vineyard and checked it out as the basis of the book. my wife bought it for 1 dollar in the throw outs.

Bugger - you would not believe it - I chucked out a few two weeks ago - the remainder of my old winestates.

I too would love to have a look at some old Winestates! So Mark, if you find that you wind up with any doubles, could you let me know? Same applies with the postage, but I won't be back in Sydney for 4 weeks or so.

Very keen

Thanks Mark, and all,

Thanks TORB, I don't think I would have the bookshelf room though

Nothing in particluar, I am more looking for books and mags that give a feel for the times and opinions on the wines of those days. Anything by Max Lake perhaps, I have his Classic Wines book.

That would be most appreciated Mark. Can you wait until early Jan? Are there any books here in France I could look out for. Maybe do a swap, but not necessary. Of course, they are most likely to be in French, but that could be a wonderful addition to any bookshelf. I am looking into some seconds sales this and next week, so will keep an eye out for anything special anyway.

All the best,

Sure, whenever you want them.

French ? Not particularly - I am more interested in Australian and the history of Australian wines.

You probably already have a copy of Len Evans' Complete Book of Australian Wine 1990 ("completely revised edition").
