Came across the `06 on a tasting bar last night here in Alberta. A blend of 27% Shiraz, 23% CS, 25% Merlot and 25% Grenache.
A very interesting blend, one would never have guessed 16% alc. Very nice.

Quarterback

Smart marketing from a small winery in Mudgee!

One of the smartest in the last year that I have seen is the brand called 'Angas the Bull' pitched predominantly onto the US steakhouse market, and locally of course.

It just seems to make that direct association with red wine and steak without actually saying it out loud, almost subliminal, and makes the consumer feel as though they worked it out on their own. Very smart.

Is this the same as di lusso??
Used to like their Vermentino and Sangiovese, under new winemaker I think the standards have dropped a little.

I thought Tony was still down your way? Looks awfully like the old Classic McLaren blend to me.

Its a

De Lisio Wine, made and marketed specifically for the US market, fairly obvoiusly.

Pretty tasty wine, the last one I tried, a vintage or two ago.

It was going to be released locally, but I don't think it ever was?

Definitely not a La Testa blend, wrong wines. Tony released this on his own (but where did the wine come from? Anyone know?)

Cheers,

Mark

You are right Mark, it is not a La Testa Blend. As this wine has merlot in it too compare to the Blend. Tony made this wine to sell outside Oz, but who knows he would start selling locally soon too.

McLaren Vale wine, nominally 25% each of Cab Sauv, Shiraz, Grenache and Merlot but vintage dependent. All fruit sourced in the Vales.

The wine is, or was, made in the Classic McLaren shed but I believe he has had to move since the takeover.

Last I heard he was trying to set up local distribution.
