Penfolds Grange 1984

Post by peterk »

The bottle, capsule and cork all in pristine condition. The level in the neck perfect. The wine decanted for 80 minutes and drank over two hours with rare roast lamb and gravy made from the last 20mm of wine.
The colour was a full red/purple colour.
A powerfull bouquet of rich deep dark fruit, plum and cherry, whifts of mint and licorice. A beautiful nose fruit driven not suggestive of a 20 year old wine.
Plum cherry sweet ripe raseberry and plent of chocolate on the palate, still plenty of fine tannins long lingering sweetish finish.
Although excellent drinking now I am confident this wine will hold for at least 5 to 10.
A good wine. :)

Cheers

Peter,
My experience was similar to yours.
Beaut bottle, beaut cork, beaut wine, would not have wanted to pick its age.
