I am planning a tour of the Mornington Peninsula over the March long weekend. Any advice relating to wineries, wines and restaurants would be greatly appreciated. I am planning to spend a couple of days in the area so any accomodation ideas would also be welcome.

Add Moorooduc and Stonier.

Moorooduc has an excellent restaurant called Jill's, and they have B&B as well, but its a little on the expensive side.

I doubt Mornington Pen has changed much since we were there in December 2005 so you will need to note two things. First, you will need a good map of the area and second, the wine day is short, most open at 11 and close by 5. If you add lunch you don't have a lot of time. By accident we stopped at Merricks General Store for a coffee and a look at the map - we were lost and trying not to be late for an appointment at Stonier's which just happened to be next door. A real duh moment! But if I was to go again I would start the day at Merricks with a late breakfast, we had plenty of time to drive from Melbourne.

Thanks for that. I had heard also that Main Ridge Estate and Foxeys Hangout were worth a visit as was Tuck's Ridge. How would you respond to these suggestions. Also I heard The Long Table for dinner.

Main Ridge was my favourite cellar door there - I would highly recommend it.

Haven't much experience of Mornington Peninsula wineries but from the chards I've tried from Port Phillip Estate and Stonier I reckon they'd be worth a visit.
