What a surprise! This vintage has some real intensity of flavour & not the usual bubblegum simplicity. I tasted the George Duboeuf BN2003 last night at Porters Roseville before heading out to see the French go down in a fairly dreary game & was really taken by it. The wine is all red grapey flavours, with musk & some interesting sappiness, it's nicely structured & sort of reminded me of good basic Village Burgundy. This would be great with a very light chill & some tuna or salmon steaks straight off the BBQ!

I also partook of the global marketing wonder that is Nouveau. Of course Duboef is the standard that one has to compare all other offerings to "Daaaahling....this producer has done *so* much better than the ho hum Duboef offerings...", etc ad nauseum. :D
Actually you are right though - they didn't do too badly did they. I tried the offerings from Cambon and Taillevent's bottling from Drouhin - the latter actually approaching an $8 wine in flavours which is fantastic - for a $38 wine... :( It wasn't too bad.
