Hi there all,

I was recently over a freinds place we were opening some older bottles of red when I noticed that he had a gas wine opener.

It is a straight metal skewer (noth the traditional crok screw) which you stab staight into the cork and then just push the little gas button on top a hey presto the cork comes straight out. Very good for old bottles were the corks tend to be a bit more brittle.

Now I've been looking for one to purchase for myself but have been unsuccesful to date. Does anyone seen these cork screws before and Does anyone know where these can be purchsed from?

The product you're after is called Cork Pops. There's two models called Cork Pops I and Cork Pops II (the marketing dept went all out on that one).

I haven't used one, so no endorsement one way or another.

I've seen them on sale in independents, but no sure where else. Do Gavin the courtesy first to see if Auswine sells them; if not google it up.

a mate had one, worked pretty well and looks cool, i dont know any more than that. i have heard however that these can blow up bottles, especially older bottles or anything with a slight defect in the neck.

I bought some at Victoria's Basement. Work very well except for those new fangled "corks".
