I'd suggest you keep an eye peeled for this, because it is mind-blowingly awesome at GREAT QPR !
The colour is mid to dark ruby to purple rim. The nose is filled with black fruits of currant and blackberry, gamey nuances, some smokiness, black tea and floral in the background.
Palate on this wine is quite incredible - beyond my wildest expectations really, the word intensity really doesn't do this wine justice - it's a cracker ! It's all about sweet black fruits, licorice, mulberry, strawberry and jammy currant. Strong tannin structure with plenty of aging potential considering the powerhouse of fruit that backs this up.
Considering the alcohol content of this wine, it doesn't come across as unbalanced or excessive, but there is a stinging sensation on the finish that reminds me a bit of really hot horseradish - brought a slight yearning of a tear to my eye.
The finish is long and intense, it's all about concentrated sweet fruits of raspberry and current.
Should cellar for up to 10 years.
93- 94pnts !!!!
