Well, Robert Parker certainly has a great palate when it comes to Muscat. Last night after dinner I tried the Dutschke Muscat and was in raptures. Then I had the Chambers Rosewood Grand Muscat and thought I had died and gone to heaven. What a wonderful place Australia is where we can buy the nectar of the gods for a few bucks :D

Mark,

RPj certainly has a good following evenly here in Australia. Most of his 95+ recommendations are rather high in alcohol, high concentation and highly extracted wine.

I totally agreed with RPj on Australian Fortified Wines. Talking of which, a case of such has just arrived on my doorstep via TNT couriers. They are as follows:

2 x Seppelt DP 59 Rare Rutherglen Tokay (500ml)
2 x Seppelt DP 90 Rare Barossa Tawny (500ml)
2 x Seppelt GR 113 Rare Rutherglen Muscat (500ml)
2 x Yalumba 50 Year Old Museum Release Tawny Port (375ml)
2 x R.L. Buller & Son Museum Release Rutherglen Rare Liqueur Tokay
2 x Chambers Rosewood Vineyards Rutherglen Rare Tokay (375ml)

Cheers,
Steve

Great Palate...perhaps. But acclamation of top flight Rutherglen Muscat is scarcely something new or undiscovered. So I wouldn't give too many 'points' for something everyone already knew anyway.

On the other hand, he does reckon Grosset whites should be drunk within a year or two of vintage...

cheers,
Graeme

How hard is it to tell people that the $60 Muscat tastes great? Not very.
