Orlanda Tawny Port

bought a bottle of 1949 Orlando Tawny Port the other day from a bric-a-brac shop in the Southern Highlands. Paid $20 thinking it was worth the gamble i.e. if the wines OK to drink. The cork looks fine and hasn't leaked any wine since lying it on its side, and the ulluge is minimal i.e. level still well into neck of bottle. Looked online to see if I could find any info about the wine. There are a few bottles out there for sale around the $100 mark. Appears it might be drinkable.

Has anyone any experience with this wine? Does anyone know the approx value and does anyone have any knowledge of the 1949 vintage etc.? I am planning to drink it, but if for some silly reason it's worth a reasonable amount, I might consider selling it instead.

With Thanks

G'day Nick & welcome - no, it's not a rare treasure, you'd probably get closer to $50 than $100+ if you were to sell it via auction. 1949 was not a renowned vintage, and tawny ports (as opposed to vintage ports) don't really improve in the bottle over time, so there's a chance it may be tired and stale, but also a chance it might be delightful (as many old Seppelts tawnies can be), so open it up after a decent meal, as a decadent dessert.

If you are intent on selling it, you'd get a better price on ebay.

Thanks Mark. Much as I expected. I will take your advice and drink it (if it's not horrible).
