Off to the Big Smoke out West at the end of the month for a professional confabulation for a week. Will be meeting up with others of like mind who I am certain will be looking for a good eatery where fine wine might be imbibed. Of course, an establishment with a good wine list might be the shot, but I prefer to select my own beverage at leisure. Any good BYO hints in this regard would be most welcome.

I'm also interested in a good local wine store that might stock Picardy (some curiosity on my part) and other specialist WA delights. Staying in Burswood area. Anything close by that might be similar in style to the Edinburgh Hotel or Melbourne St. Cellars in Adelaide?

The Burswood is a bit out all by itself however it is a quick cab ride to the city and even better to East Perth where there are now plenty of pretty smart riverside cafes.

Try "Noi Cafe" at 60 Royal St. They have excellent glasses and decanters and the food is pretty good modern Italian. There is also a well stocked VC over the road (uncertain if they stock Picardy however).

La Vigna in Mt Lawley is probably the go if you definitely want Picardy, or contact the winery direct and find out from them who their stockists are.

Tristram, When your'e in Perth I recommend you check out Must Wine Bar and the Grapeskin, both close to the city centre. Great selection of W.A reds and really good food to match.
