Long time contributor to this forum, Graeme Gee (GraemeG) and his wife Judith have just had a baby boy. Geoffrey Windsor weighed in at 8lb 7 (or 3.85kg for you new-fangled types), is 53cm long, hale & hearty, was born by caesarean section (eventually) at 3.07am on May 27, 2007. Mother and son are doing well and will return home on Saturday June 2.
I wonder how long before he is trying "stickies"?

Congratulations Graeme & Judith on the new addition!

It's a bit of a coincidence that Geoffrey just happens to have the same birthday as myself!

Unfortunately, there's also a chance his birth year vintage could end up being just as shocking as mine is.

All the best guys,
Ian

So which shocking vintage are you from Ian? Is there no where in the world that it's any good?
Don't write off 2007 just yet. I've heard it may be Vintage of the Century in QLD!

				Thanks Ric,
Yes, it's all very exciting. Hoping for a decent 07 vintage somewhere in the world for the cellar...!
cheers,
Graeme

A bottle of anything says that he is bound to be better looking

Congrats Graeme, however it is no simple coincidence that at 3.07am on May 27, 2007 your cellar reached its highest capacity that it is going to reach for 18 years.

1969 was a very poor year most places, so I don't hold up much hope of getting something great that I wouldn't have to donate a body organ to get hold of. If I'm really lucky I may strike a decent VP or maybe something from the Hunter, but I don't like my chances.
Cheers,
Ian

Oh oh, 1969, that is a bad year everywhere that I know of, not even Portugal wanted to know about it. I suppose it will only really hit on your 40th when you won't have any birth year wines to share. Well happy birthday for last Sunday anyway.

Thanks. We're getting a little off topic here, but I'll also mention this thread was on the other forum in regard to 1969s that maybe worth a punt:
You know the drill. Drinking well in 2007:
Drc Montrachet
Leroy Montrachet
DRC La Tache
Comte de Vogue Musigny
Domaine Dujac Bonnes-Mares
Comte Lafon Meursault-Charmes Clos de la Barre
Bollinger VVF
Guigal La Mouline
Krug
VC La Grand Dame
Belle Epoque
Schloss Gobelsburg Gruner Veltliner Spatlese
Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon Lot C-91 Napa
Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Napa
Penfolds Bin 2 shiraz mataro
Kay's Amery Bros "Burgundy"
Kaiser Stuhl Vintage Port
DRC Richebourg
Faivelley Chappelle-Chambertin
Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche
Robert Arnoux Romanee-St-Vivant
Some good '69 Granges
Penfolds 707....starting to fade
I've read some raves about 1969 La Chapelle too but finding one will be really tough, and it will probably cost an arm and a leg. I've just got the one bottle of Yalumba VP at the moment, and I expect that's probably past it anyway - occasionally some d'Arenberg VPs show up at auction, maybe I'll find something else. At least I wasn't born in 1974.

Cheers,
Ian

I quite like some of those Decanter mini-descriptions of vintage in the regions. My birth year produced "some characterful wines" in Rioja (very scary description), but for Australia they have the lovely phrase "Not a vintage to demonstrate Australian winemaking talent"...
