Have an opportunity to buy 3 bottles for $150.
Dont think 97 was a good year for Eden Valley, however Henscke have a great reputation.
Has anybody had any experience with this wine?

Pana,

Got a 6 pack of the 1997 Henschke Cyril @ $95 /bottle. Tried one 2 weeks ago. Double decant and left to breathe for 2 hours before serving.

Purple/crimson. Blackcurrant/coffee/chocolate and oak. Very smooth and a lingering finish. Definitely needs more time. I recommend cellaring the 1997 for another 3 - 5 years.

I rate it equal to the 96 vintage but a rung below the 1993, 1986 & 1990.

Cheers,
Steve
