Before anyone starts, I have been transferred for 2 years. I am looking for opportunities to attend tastings etc. In Australia I use the papers, magazines and the forum. Where are the best retailers in Auckland?

Thanks for your help in making this a palatable experience

problem with auckland is battling traffic to attend tastings!!

however

finewine delivery company does regular free and small cost tastings

glengarry in vic park does the odd very good value but more expensive tasting. been to some rippers there!! i remember a couple of years ago going to a penfolds tasting for $15 including yattarna, 707, grange, rwt!! as well as all the bin wines etc. also been to a fantastic prestige champagne night for about $45 and you get to take home a riedel glass and taste 6 or 7 prestige champagnes (dom, krug etc)

first glass i know does some on wednesday night but never been

caros in parnell does some too.

i cant say i go to as many as i did in hamilton but if you pick and choose you can go to a few good ones!! get on a few retailer mailing lists then pick the eyes out of the tastings

Craig has pretty much covered it but add Masion Vauron ( http://www.mvauron.co.nz/ ) in Newmarket if you want to taste the French stuff.

Wine Direct ( http://www.winedirect.co.nz ), also in Newmarket, does free tastings of its new arrivals from overseas from time to time. They do American as well as Europe.

Also Cellarmasters Wine Club - ( http://www.cellarmasters.co.nz ) - Newmarket Liquorland would be the place to enquire but not been to one of their tastings for years.

I'll add the weblinks for the others so you can look them up
Fine Wine Delivery Company - http://www.finewineonline.co.nz
First Glass - http://www.first-glass.co.nz - most wines tasted blind if you like this kind of thing.
Caros - http://www.caros.co.nz - no tasting info online that I can find
Glengarry Wines - http://www.glengarry.co.nz - the sites been 'under construction' and doesn't really tell you anything.

Cheers,
Sue
