New Adelaide Offline No.2

Note that this post replaces the original Adelaide Offline post of a coupla weeks ago.

It looks like the suggested late March Offline won't be a goer, so after looking at responses and checking diaries the suggested date is now 27/28th April.

Venue is likely to be the wine savvy Soho in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. The Blacktongues have dined here as a group on occasions and found it an excellent venue for this type of function. Cost will be fixed inc BYO and quite modest.

So what do you need to do? Confirm ASAP if you'll be a starter and for how many so Ian can make a firm booking.

Looks like a good plan to me if you don't mind being hijacked on this one Mark.

It gives us about six weeks to get organised and Soho is an excellent venue. Price will be about $50/head for a set three courses including all corkage, which is a very good deal.

Cheers,
Ian

I'm definitely keen, but have a baby due on Friday 4th May, so my booking will have to be tentative...if we're not in labour then I'm there with bells on!

Cheers

Should watch the use of the word"hijack", Ian, you're bound to be on some ASIO list now! Don't mind at all, actually. A good date for me, so count me in.

Cheers,

Mark

A few more new faces - this is looking very good.

What day would everyone prefer, Friday the 27th or Saturday the 28th.

Mine would be for the Saturday, as I don't have to rush home from work first, have plenty of time to get/prepare/check the bottles, plus I generally feel a bit sharper. That said either is fine.

Cheers,
Ian

Either works well for me, too, though I prefer a Saturday for the same reasons as you.

Saturday night will be best for us, and I bet most other South Aussies (Port Power playing on friday, Crows playing on Sunday).

2 coming

OK, it looks like most people are preferring Saturday 28th April so how about we make that the date.

So could all you other forumites who are thinking about coming along please let us know so we can book roughly the right number. Also let us know how many under your name.

I'm trying to scheme some Japanese wine (red or white, both, who knows) at the moment... I'll have it before the 28th, so it might make an appearance!

Any idea of how good it's supposed to be?

The thought of this is a bit like Nayan's Indian Sauvignon Blanc - I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be intrigued, terrified, or both. :?

I can just imagine it now...

The Japanese Prime Minister today issued a public apology for:

- the treatment of female prisoners as sex slaves in WWII,
- this wine,
- Iron Chef America, and
- the Daihatsu Charade

Cheers,
Ian

I have no idea, although I hear there are some producers of excellent wine over there. I've sent my parents on a mission for me, so hopefully they come through with the goods.

I'll take other stuff, of course... maybe some Turkish wine they picked up for me last year :D

I had a word with MartinJohnC at BTs last night, and he's most probably a starter.

He's had a bit of trouble trying to log on lately, and wondering if he's been accidentally deleted by Gavin or RB. :?

Nope he's not deleted, he's still here and active?

He may need to just clear the cache in his browser, and try again.

This can often fix it, it sounds like a 'cookies' issue.

Thanks Gavin,

Someone else had a similar problem last month, but I forgot about it until now - he was going to contact you, but I'll email him with this info to see if he can fix it faster.

What a name - I'm guessing it would come in very handy after visiting the Squires Board & Serge's website.

It's a pity you and Pam can't make it this time David - I hope to catch up with you very soon.

I've made a preliminary booking at SOHO for the 28th: anyone else wanting to go please speak up soon(ish) so I can give them a better idea of the number of people likely to be there.

Cheers,
Ian
